Having a baby in the house has made me realize how many chemicals I use. Hairspray, toilet cleaner, floor cleaner, Windex, candles, Febreeze... the list seems almost endless.
I have often heard of using vinegar to clean things, but I've never actually done it. I really love the smell of a 'clean' house, but also really love my baby girl's lungs and brain cells!
So, with that in mind, I have decided not to buy any more cleaners. I will use up what I have in my cupboard, but once its gone - its gone. Bring on the vinegar (and baking soda)!
I found this website to help me get started... http://www.vinegartips.com/scripts/pageViewSec.asp?id=7.
I will keep you posted on how it goes!
And as for the candles - those aren't going anywhere! Anyone who knows me knows my NEED for candles. Maybe instead of lighting FIVE at once, Ill just pick or two at a time. Maybe.
Hey Jamie!
ReplyDeleteVinegar and baking soda work awesome! I use it on everything- kitchen, bathroom, toys etc. It cleans just as well as products with chemicals. I think once you start using it, you won't stop. Happy cleaning!
Try Soy based candles or one with wooden wicks burn cleaner.. better for you then the alternative paraffin ones. Etsy has tons of home made ones too:)
ReplyDeleteI admire your desire for a "clean world" for Audrey, but my cleaning products didn't seem to have an ill-effect on you or Kelly, so don't give up your favourites that make you "happy"! I get it about the smell of a clean house!!!! You are an AMAZING Mommy!!!

this is great Jame!
ReplyDeletei did the same when we had Lily, but like your Mom suggested I kept one cleaner that made my life really easy and that I found worked so well - Windex!
